"Summerbridge gets younger students into learning and older students into teaching." - Newsweek

Summer 2009 Program Dates are June 29th - July 31st, 2009

Summerbridge San Diego is a tuition-free, rigorous two summer session program serving 100 elementary and middle school students with academic classes and activities. During the school year, Summerbridge students receive four to six hours a week of tutoring by college students chosen through the UCSD Partners At Learning (PAL) Program.

Students are taught by a dedicated and highly motivated faculty composed entirely of young adults from colleges and universities nationwide.

With support from master teachers, Summerbridge delegates responsibilities for teaching, curriculum development, advising, evaluation and administration to its young faculty. This is the strength of our program. Bright college students opening intellectual doors.

We also strive to include families in their students' learning, and we continue to support them, academically, through high school. Parents are very active in helping with our extra-curricular activities.

Fundamentally, Summerbridge aims to change the way we talk and think about education. We are demonstrating that young college people can take charge of their own education while taking responsibility for the education of those eight-ten years younger. There is a trust and bonding that evolves.

Summerbridge challenges the conventional notion of who can achieve and who can teach.
